Rebecca Tarbotton, the dynamic executive director of the Rainforest Action Network (RAN) was overwhelmed by rough waves while vacationing in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and drowned December 26th. She was 39.
The Rainforest Action Network recently crafted an agreement with Disney Corporation that neither they nor their subsidiaries would use fiber of any kind sourced from endangered or protected rainforests. It was a huge win for RAN, and a major step forward towards sustainability for one of Earth’s biggest multinational corporations, Disney.
Tarbotton believed deeply in the power of people to affect change through direct action. She put her money where her mouth was often, most recently getting arrested during the Keystone XL protests which took place last year. She will be missed!
